Payments for organic farmers - what are the latest opportunities?
In a period of substantial change for farming, it is encouraging to hear that support for organic will continue. What you can apply for will depend on where you're based:
- England: Payment window open now.
- Scotland: Window closed on 31 March.
- Northern Ireland: Window closed on 31 March.

Organic Maintenance & Conversion Payments
Payments for Organic maintenance & conversion are now options within the new Countryside Stewardship Scheme (CSS) which started in January 2016 and has an annual application window which closes in September. Payment rates have improved both in England and Wales compared to the scheme which CSS replaces (OELS). Find out more:

Basic Payment Scheme
The next round of support payments for farmers was agreed in 2013 and will remain in force from 2016 - 2020. The new scheme involves greening requirements for the first time.
